Meet the team
Taimur Adil is a Partner at Impetus and a leader in Project Management, Learning Systems and Value for Money (VfM) Frameworks.
He has been instrumental in advising on strategic initiatives across various sectors including education, public policy, and development. Taimur is known for his expertise in leading complex projects and driving impactful reforms, particularly in the education sector.
In his current role, Taimur is responsible for overseeing client outcomes and managing firm operations, collaborating closely with international partners to enhance Impetus’s global footprint. He also serves as the Islamabad President for Entrepreneur’s Organization, a global volunteer network that seeks to nurture and grow entrepreneurship. Taimur brings with him a wealth of experience from his previous positions, including senior roles at Adam Smith International, UNIDO, Engro Pakistan and Zong.
He holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and a BSc (Honors) from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
Taimur resides in Islamabad with his wife and three children. He is an avid dog lover and enjoys spending time with his family and pets.
Muhammad Akbar Ali Malik is a leading figure in large-scale systems transformation, currently heading the firm's Human Resources function. His focus lies in steering organizational change and driving impactful strategies across various sectors.
Akbar has served at key positions within the country’s public and development sectors, specializing in policy-making and governance. He is known for his ability to seamlessly blend multidisciplinary research with practical implementation, making significant contributions in high-level government engagements.
Previously, Akbar has worked for the federal government of Pakistan, several provincial governments and multilaterals operating in the country. He has also worked in the U.S. with public and private sector universities on various research grants.
Akbar holds a Master of Public Administration from Cornell University, with a concentration in Government Politics and Public Policy, and a Bachelor of Science from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
Based in Islamabad, Akbar lives with his wife and daughter. An avid tennis enthusiast, he is passionate about promoting the sport in Pakistan and actively supports initiatives to mainstream tennis in the country.
Awais Iqbal Qureshi is a Partner at Impetus and has extensive experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating reform programs across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab with a focus on transforming institutions. Specializing in health, education, and public financial management, he has collaborated with multiple bilateral and multilateral donors.
Currently Awais leads projects focusing on healthcare system transformation and public financial management in KP and Punjab. Notably, he implemented an electronic medical record system across 200+ care facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic to better track and report COVID cases. He has also previously worked with several provincial governments advising them on reforms around fiscal management and education.
Awais has also worked with McKinsey & Company, leading data analytics for enrolling 600,000+ students in primary schools and managing Monitoring & Evaluation for an education system with more than 10 million enrolled students.
Awais holds a B.Sc. Honours in Accounting and Finance from LUMS, with technical skills in project management, data visualization, and impact evaluation.
Awais resides in Islamabad with his wife and is a proud dog owner. He is also a keen adventurist and mountaineer, having attempted two peaks over 7,000 ft.
